Electronic seal vs. RFID seal
RFID primarily describes radio-frequency identity/data capture technology. Electronic seal is a broader system concept: beyond electronic identity, it can provide open/closed seal status, battery information, sensor events or other status data through a reader. Some e-seal designs use RFID/radio technology as their communications layer.
ISO 18185-1:2007 describes a system for freight-container electronic seals that presents a unique seal identifier and seal status through a radio-communications interface; other parts of the series address application requirements, environmental characteristics, data protection and the physical layer. Standard coverage should be verified at model level during specification.
