The real job of tracking software is the event chain
Having thousands of serial numbers in a database does not by itself create a tracking system. Tracking requires the lifecycle events around each identity: issued from inventory, assigned to a shipment, applied, verified at the gate, transferred, inspected at destination and removed.
The Identify–Capture–Share logic used in the GS1 Global Traceability framework also illustrates that traceability is more than a label. In seal software, physical/digital identity is defined, captured through scanning or manual entry and converted into a shareable record linked to the operational event. GS1 usage is not mandatory for every internal seal system, but the same data discipline is useful.
