Checks before applying a seal
Sealing should not begin by assuming that the closure point is sound. If a vehicle door, container handle, meter terminal cover, valve or cage latch is loose, broken or bent, the seal becomes little more than a marker on a defective closure. A short pre-sealing inspection is therefore the first real security step.
The second check is the correct product and serial number. In operations using many seals of similar color or model, recording the wrong serial is a common process error. Where possible, scan or enter the number as the seal is taken from its pack, then perform the physical application.

How tight should a plastic seal be?
Tight enough to reduce unnecessary movement, but controlled enough not to damage the closure or impair inspection/removal.
Can a damaged seal be used?
